A pattern has formed where Tucker teaches between 3-4 consecutive Sundays then there is a substitute for 1-2 weeks. Is this by design and planned to continue?
Tucker aims to teach around 75% of the yearly sermons at our church. This rhythm allows him to stay refreshed in the Word and ensures space for other gifted preachers and teachers in our church to share the Word of God. While Tucker desires to be the main teacher and preacher, he doesn’t want to be the only teacher. This approach helps the church avoid relying solely on one person for Biblical insight and wisdom.
Tucker’s role as pastor includes more than preaching. He also spends time setting direction, meeting with leaders, visiting mission fields, officiating weddings and funerals, and being present with the people of our church. Weeks when Tucker preaches require significant preparation—reading, studying, praying, and writing—to deliver Spirit-filled sermons that align with the needs of the church. Because of this, his availability for other pastoral tasks is more limited during those weeks.
When Tucker takes a week off from preaching but remains in town, it’s a valuable time for him to be in the office, encouraging staff, meeting with team leaders, and giving vision and direction. These weeks allow him to lead the church well beyond the pulpit.
There’s no strict pattern of three to four weeks teaching followed by one or two weeks off, but the goal is to maintain a healthy rhythm. This includes time for Tucker to invest in the church and spend quality time with his family—often getting away for a couple of weeks each year.
