Who helps the high school, middle school, and kids ministry with worship? Can we mentor the next generation of worship leaders? Adults have a full time worship leader and worship pastor.
Our church places a lot of emphasis on the worship of God. While Pastor Noah has transitioned from being our Worship Pastor to being Tucker’s Assistant Pastor whose current focus is revitalizing our prayer ministry (more on that here), we now have Seth Hale on staff full time to care for and lead our worship teams. This role is vital in serving our church family not only in the times of musical worship on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, but in building up teams to help lead and cultivate the heart of worship in our church.
One of our duties as a church is to also build up the heart of worship for the next generation. Alongside teaching who God is, it’s important to instill in our children and youth a desire to praise and worship Him. With that in mind, there is time devoted in each kids ministry and youth group class to worship.
Kids Ministry
The approach is different for elementary-age kids than it is for the older students. In Kids Ministry, Pastor Rhett and two other volunteers take turns leading the kids in musical worship on Sunday mornings. They use worship videos, and lead the kids in hand motions to go along with the songs. Pastor Rhett said, “We almost always have some of the kids join us up front to help lead.” Everyone who serves on our worship team is background checked just like any other kids ministry team member.
Youth on Sunday Mornings
As you might have noticed, our middle school and high school students join the main service for worship on Sunday mornings. This is an intentional decision, providing times when students can join their parents and church family all worshiping together, and can begin to feel comfortable as a part of the larger church.
High School Mid-Week
Our Thursday evening High School youth group has a team that leads them in a time of worship before they start their study. Their team is led by one of their youth leaders, who also serves with the Sunday morning worship team.
Middle School Mid-Week
Wednesday evening Middle School youth group is currently joining the church family for worship and being dismissed to the youth building just before Tom begins to teach. The ideal would be for them to have their own time of worship in the youth building as youth group begins, and we are praying for the Lord to provide people who are willing and able to lead for them.
