Will Pastor Parker continue to serve as both the high school and middle school pastor, or is his oversight of middle school temporary?
Thank you for the question. This is a new season for our middle and high school leadership. For the past 20 years the pastoral leadership of these groups were held by two separate pastors, but this isn’t the first time our church has had one pastor oversee both, which is common in many other churches in our valley.
In replacing Reggie’s 20-year legacy as middle school pastor, we wanted to find someone with a heart for our specific students. While we considered hiring externally, after prayer and reflection we felt it best for Pastor Parker to take over leadership for our middle school for the time being. Parker’s work with the high school team has been mission-minded and community-driven, and we have confidence that he will care for the middle school students well.
To get to the heart of your question, this is designed to be a temporary assignment. Parker will continue leading as we seek the Lord for who He has to take up the mantle of middle school leadership. While Parker currently has the grace to continue in both roles, we don’t want this to last more than a year. Please pray with us as we seek God’s guidance in developing new leaders and determining the right time for Parker’s eventual transition.
