Does Calvary Boise have any kind of Al-anon, or Celebrate Recovery type program?
We don’t offer a formal 12-step or sponsored program like Al-Anon or Celebrate Recovery, but we do have a weekly service that serves a similar purpose. This service is designed for those struggling with addiction or re-acclimating to society after being in prison or jail. It’s led by Pastor Chris Smith, who has been with our church for over 10 years.
Chris has a powerful testimony—he came to faith while in prison and developed a deep passion for helping others break free from addiction and the cycle of incarceration. He’s a gifted evangelist with a heart for people in that season of life, and through his leadership, many have grown closer to Jesus.
Because Chris is a bi-vocational pastor, he isn’t there every Thursday, but he has a team of leaders that help make sure the ministry continues to run smoothy, with teaching by Marcus West, who is a leader of a Calvary Community.
The group meets every Thursday at 7:00 PM. It’s a simple service with worship, teaching from the Word, and fellowship. While we don’t offer sponsorship or a structured steps program, this is a great space for encouragement and spiritual growth. For those specifically looking for a 12-step program, there are other excellent options in town, and Pastor Chris is happy to recommend other services.
