Question: Discipleship

What are ways new believers can get connected at church with a mentor or find someone to disciple them as they seek to grow in the faith? (One on one vs. group)

This answer is brought to you by Pastor Matt who helps organize all of our different gatherings and discipleship opportunities.

That's a great question! There are several ways new believers can get connected to receive discipleship as they grow in their faith. Here are some suggestions:

1. Join a Calvary Community: Small groups are a great way to connect with other believers, and build relationships that will help you grow in your faith and walk with the Lord.  Look for a Calvary Community on our website or reach out to Connor Farnworth to find one in your area. https://www.calvaryboise.com/communities

2. Speak to the church leadership: I always encourage people to talk to our pastors, elders, or leaders of the many different ministries at Calvary Boise that are designed to serve people at various stages of life and faith. From there we can connect you with someone who can help disciple you.

3. Attend church events and activities: Get involved in church activities where you can meet other believers who can pour into your life. https://www.calvaryboise.com/events

4. Volunteer for church ministries: Volunteering to serve is a great way to meet people and build connections. You may naturally find someone who is willing to mentor or disciple you along the way. https://www.calvaryboise.com/serve

5. Seek out a one-on-one mentor: If you prefer one-on-one mentorship, consider approaching someone you admire at Calvary Boise and ask them if they would be willing to mentor you. This could be someone in a position of leadership such as an elder, pastor, or ministry leader, or it could be a brother or sister in Christ who is living out their faith in a noticeable way. This can be a powerful and personal way to grow in your faith. https://www.calvaryboise.com/ministryleaders

Additionally, Women’s Ministry has a discipleship program, with mentors ready to walk with the women of our church as they grow in their relationship with Jesus. For more info, visit calvaryboise.com/women.

There are many opportunities to develop a mentor/mentee relationship, but relationship is the key. So much of the learning and growth that happened in the lives of Jesus’ disciples took place simply by living life with Him, by watching Him, by learning from Him in shared situations. Remember, building relationships and finding a mentor takes time and effort. Stay open, prayerful, and proactive in seeking out opportunities to connect with others at Calvary Boise.
