Dear Church Family,

As we continue making plans for this weekend, we wanted to give you an update on all that is going on.

This Sunday, June 14, 2020, we will have in-person services at 9:15AM and 11:15AM. In addition, we will continue our livestream at 9:15AM. Our in-person gatherings will be family services, and we will not provide kids or student ministries. To allow for proper disinfecting procedures in the Sanctuary, we will be asking those who attend the 9:15AM service to exit promptly at the end of service.

In order to follow guidelines regarding social distancing, we will have limited seating capacity. We have done work in the sanctuary to promote social distancing, and will not be serving communion. In addition to the text to give, online donations, and mailed in donations, you may also donate using the offering boxes inside the sanctuary. We will not be passing baskets. We also have hand sanitizer stations throughout the building.

We will continue working to sanitize and deep clean frequently. To help keep everyone safe and healthy, we ask for your help in the following ways:

  • Stay home if you’ve been exposed, or if anyone in your home shows any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • If you are at higher risk, please stay home.
  • Face masks are not required, but feel free to wear them if you prefer.

In addition to our weekend gatherings, additional connection opportunities will continue to be available through Calvary Boise Online. We will also continue our Kids Time and Student Hangouts online only. Visit calvaryboise.com/online for a listing.

FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2020

Dear Church Family and Friends,

Thank you for continuing to pray with and for our leadership as we embark on a very exciting, albeit challenging time. I know we are all eager to get back into in person gatherings. I include myself in that “we.” However, I also know that my timing is not God’s, and right now it is vital that we to focus on Him and His will. We must remain in patient prayer as to what comes next for the people of Calvary Boise.

This Sunday, May 31, our livestream at 9:15AM will be produced by a small team on campus, but will not be open for in-person attendance. Additional connection opportunities will continue to be available through Calvary Boise Online. We will also continue our Kids Time and Student Hangouts online only.

We continue to pray for God to lead us into a new chapter of our church’s history. We are not only looking to the government to tell us to we re-open our doors. We are pursuing counsel, discussing as elders, and doing our best to hear from God as to that plan. The world has changed. Our society and culture have changed. There is no going back to exactly the way things were before. We stay open to walking in whatever God has ordained for us in the best possible way.

We know that God is sovereign in these incredible, and often painful circumstances. We stand on the truth of Romans 8:28 and heartily believe that He uses all things, even this, for our good. So, this is not a time to simply look back and strive to put our personal “Humpty Dumpties” back together. This is a time to think creatively, pray fervently, and act boldly to reach a hurting world. This is a time to encourage our fellow believers in fresh ways and allow the Holy Spirit to send us into uncharted waters to reach the lost around us.

As Psalm 118:23 tells us, this is God’s doing and it is marvelous. I encourage each of you to be open handed and open hearted. Think creatively. Trust God and Him alone. Pray that we develop a fresh vision for these new times. And, remember that God knows the end of every story, including this one. His ways are unfathomable to us, but they are always perfect.

Along those lines, I am excited to share what’s coming up for our study time together. This Sunday, we will conclude our series through Ephesians, called “This is Us.” As we work our way through the Bible, Philippians comes next. Taking a look at this powerful letter is very appropriate and I believe God ordained. As many of you know, Paul wrote this letter to the church at Philippi while he was in chains. He was a prisoner of a hostile Roman government yet His circumstances did not rob him of joy. They did not rob him of faith. They did not rob him of hope in God. And, they did not rob him of his ministry.  God has something for each of us during this historic time. Please join our staff, elders and I in praying that we as a body of believers will wait on His wisdom and walk confidently in His will.

Until we meet again, I share Paul’s sentiment for the people he loved and “I thank my God at every remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3).

FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2020

Dear Church Family and Friends,

Thank you for continuing to pray with and for our leadership team as we navigate the rapidly changing circumstances of the COVID-19 era. Today, I am again reminded of the importance of seeking the God’s wisdom and direction in all things, especially the challenges before us.  As many of you have heard, today President Donald Trump announced that houses of worship are to be considered “essential services” and as such, encouraged governors across the nation to call for them to reopen this weekend.

We, of course, rejoice in the recognition of the vital role churches play in our communities. However, from the onset, we have determined that Calvary Boise will be patient and prayerful in addressing every piece of information that comes our way during this unprecedented time.  It is our goal, above all, to keep our people as safe as possible. Therefore, we will not be reopening in haste, so our campus will remain closed.

This Sunday, May 24, our livestream at 9:15AM, will be produced by a small team on campus, but will not be open for in-person attendance. Additional connection opportunities will continue to be available through Calvary Boise Online. We will also continue our Worship Time, Kids Time and Student Hangouts online only.

Like many of you, I am eager to get back to our typical way of doing things. I miss seeing you and worshipping together. I am tired of the confines of COVID-19, and sometimes I am even frustrated. Nevertheless, I am reminded of our God whose patience is perfect.

Isaiah 40:28-29 – “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

I do not understand why all this is happening, but God does. He calls us to trust Him and love others with His unconditional love. When I think of the most vulnerable among us and the way this virus attacks them, I stop and pray for more patience, perseverance, and faith. God knows how this all ends and He never lets His people down.

So, please continue to pray for our pastors, staff, elders, and me. Pray that we will walk in God’s will, allow His Spirit to guide us, and stand firm in the love of Jesus for a lost and dying world. Pray for all those who are struggling, frontline care givers, the financially fragile, and families. Pray for worried kids, single parents who are balancing work and homeschool, essential workers, and the sick and dying. May we all shine the love of Jesus wherever God places us.

Until we meet again, I thank my God at every remembrance of you (Philippians 1:3).

With Love,
Tucker Maile, Lead Pastor

Dear Church Family and Friends,

Thank you for continuing to join Calvary Boise’s leadership team in prayer as we navigate these murky and uncharted waters. Today, I rejoice in the truth that by God’s grace, we will emerge from this historic challenge stronger, more resilient, and better aware of His great power and provision. I am also grateful that with each passing day, we are closer to gathering together again in person.

I am sorry that I do not have a solid date for the reopening of our campus. However, I can provide you with some insight into our current plan for achieving that goal.

Things are beginning to change as we enter Stage 2 of Reopening Boise City. As a result, we will begin loosening our restrictions for Calvary Boise about a week from now. Our staff, volunteers and those in need will have access to campus with appropriate social distancing restrictions and modified hours. We also plan to reopen the Food Pantry and Prayer Room.  Gathering sizes will still be limited during Stage 2, so we anticipate continuing with our Weekend Gathering and other events online only until those restraints are lifted.

Like many of you, I am eager to get back to our typical way of doing things. I miss seeing you, hugging you, and shaking hands. I miss teaching to people who smile, laugh, and sometimes even nod their heads at me. I miss worshipping with hands lifted high and hearts full of rejoicing.

With Love,

FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2020

Dear Church Family and Friends,

First of all, I want to thank you all for being a part of God’s Kingdom during this very strange time. It’s been a privilege to watch you all live out the Gospel by the way you are serving your families, neighborhoods, and community in so many loving ways. I know my little family has been blessed by the opportunities and challenges of doing life in this very different way. I hope you have similarly discovered unique blessings through this.

That said, I know we are all longing for the day when we gather together again. As many of you know, Mayor Lauren McLean of Boise has adopted a strict interpretation of Governor Brad Little’s guidelines for re-opening our state. We intend to honor our government authorities as the Bible instructs us to do (Romans 13) so we will comply with the City guidelines. This means that we are continuing to walk by faith, not by sight, as we reflect the longsuffering heart of God in this matter.

We are a large church, so we can’t limit our gatherings to the small numbers required in stages 1 and 2 of the Reopening Boise City plan. We will continue to wait for clearer orders in the upcoming stages.

When all of this all started, we adopted the Corona Creed as a way of “being” throughout the experience—no matter how long it endured. One of the principles of that Creed was to be patient, so we continue to stand on that principle.

In addition to complying with our government’s orders, I want you to know that it is my personal desire to err on the side of caution in caring for our church family and friends, especially those who are most vulnerable. So, for all of you who are wondering when we will be holding gatherings on our campus, the short answer is: we don’t know yet.  But, we are carefully monitoring changes in our community and will be evaluating everything through the power of prayer. To that end, please join me in praying for wisdom not only regarding this important decision, but also relating to how we can best care for one another during this monumental time in history.

May we remember that our God knows everything. Before you were born, He knew you would live in the year 2020 when the world took a timeout and people gathered to worship, learn, and connect in innovative ways. Pray that we will all be able to trust in His ability to use this time to transform us into better reflections of Jesus.

I will continue to write to you as we have more specific details to share. In the meantime, I encourage you to continue connecting digitally as you can for Home Groups, and even to watch our Weekend Gathering Online.  Until the day we can all hug, may I leave you with Genesis 31:49 – “May the Lord watch between you and me when we are away from each other.”

With Love,

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2020

Thank you for your patience as we determine the necessary steps for Calvary Christian School to move forward in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

We have decided to soft close our onsite classrooms for Kindergarten through 8th grade students through Monday, April 20 in line with the Idaho State Board of Education directive. We were already working on our remote learning plans for these grades, and will continue to do so. Whether through onsite or offsite learning, our education will adhere to a high level of teaching standards while completing the current school year on time so that students can promote to the next grade level. Offsite learning will begin on Monday, March 30 at the direction of each grade’s teacher. We will be in communication with you soon regarding a coordinated supply pickup for kindergarten through 8th grade.

We are still processing the next steps for our Preschool and Extended Program. More definitive plans will be communicated by the end of the week.

To alleviate some of the financial burden during this time, we will extend payments through August 1 upon request. As of March 15 we stopped charging late fees, and will not charge late fees through the end of the school year on all accounts that are past due. If you are in need of a payment extension, please email corinne@calvaryboise.com.

We recognize that there may be many questions, and we will do our best to answer those in this ever-changing environment. Please email your questions to mtiber@ccsboise.org, and we’ll answer them as soon as possible.

We are praying for God’s provision in all ways for our school families and staff. He knows our needs and He will sustain us. Hold fast to the one constant, our Living Hope—Jesus! Hebrews 10:23-24

Please watch the following video to stay up to date with how God is leading our church to live out our mission during these difficult times.

TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2020

As you may have heard, in light of how our state and country are responding to COVID-19, we have moved all of our weekend gatherings online. In a recent development, the President also asked for all gatherings to be limited to no more than 10 people.

That being said, in an effort to prioritize the health of our church family and our community while also supporting local health officials and government leaders, we are cancelling ALL onsite gatherings (Intro to Home Groups training, classes, Bible studies, youth groups, etc.) until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and your ministry. Although this decision was difficult to make, we believe that it is in the best interest of everyone. We appreciate all of the hard work that you do every week to love the people around us. It is an honor to serve with you.

In all of this we will continue to point to faith in God and not fear in our circumstances, seeking to make prayerful, wise decisions in the safety of wise and Godly counsel. Please continue praying with us through this situation, and periodically check this page for the latest news and updates from us. Our team is working hard to find ways to provide resources for our church family to be able to connect with each other and the people around them without being physically together. We firmly believe that this is a great moment to be beacons of hope as we live out our mission to help all people meet and follow the real Jesus today.

We hope to see you at our online weekend gathering this Sunday at 9:15AM!

SUNDAY, MARCH 15, 2020

As we continue to learn about how our community, country, and world are responding to COVID-19, we want to keep you up to date with what we at Calvary Boise are doing to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The most recent update is that we have had to make the very difficult decision to close our CCS Elementary, Middle School, Pre-School, and Extended Care Programs effective immediately (3/15/2020) through Spring Break (3/29/2020). This decision has not been made lightly, and is based on the following factors:

-Our care and desire to do all that we can to help slow the spread of COVID-19 throughout our church and community; especially keeping in mind those who are at highest risk;
-Our care and desire to heed advice from the government and health care professionals and officials on the best way to slow the spread of COVID-19;
-Recent updates from school professionals and officials, including school closures throughout the Treasure Valley.

Additionally, we were informed this afternoon that a staff member under the umbrella of our CCS family is currently under quarantine after being tested for COVID-19. The results have not yet come in, so please be praying for this person and their family, as well as our community as a whole.

We understand that this closure may bring difficulties for families, and we are sorry for that, but we firmly believe that although this is a tough decision, it is the right one. We are praying for and through ways we can help alleviate some of the stresses these changes will cause. We will continually be prayerful in all things and seek to do our best to be proactive in keeping you all up to date. Please monitor your email, ccsboise.org, and the Calvary Christian School Boise Facebook page for updates.

In all of this we will continue to point to faith in God and not fear in our circumstances, seeking to make prayerful, wise decisions in the safety of wise and Godly counsel. Please continue praying with us through this situation, and periodically check calvaryboise.com/coronavirus for the latest news and updates from us.
